JUJU Watkins Drops 51 on No. 4 South Carolina

She’s built different, freshman sensation JuJu Watkins propelled the No. 15 USC Women’s Basketball team to a remarkable victory against the No. 4 ranked Stanford, with a final score of 67-58. Watkins shattered a USC record by scoring a mind blowing 51 points, the highest in NCAA women’s basketball this season. Her performance included hitting a crucial three-pointer with just over three minutes left and sinking four free throws in the closing seconds, breaking the previous USC scoring record set in 1989.

Watkins’ scoring prowess was on full display as she amassed 25 points by halftime and finished the game shooting 14 for 26. In a crucial moment, her three-pointer in the third quarter pushed USC ahead of Stanford, with her individual score surpassing Stanford’s total points at that time. This historic performance also marked USC’s first victory on Stanford’s home court since 2001.

Stanford’s star, Cameron Brink, also put up a strong performance with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and eight blocked shots. However, it was Watkins’ night as she led her team to break Stanford’s undefeated home streak this season.
