Jeremiah Smith College Debut: Ohio State’s Freshman WR Shines with Two Touchdowns vs Akron
Columbus, OH – Ohio State’s 52-6 win over Akron showcased the arrival of their highly anticipated freshman wide receiver, Jeremiah Smith. The five-star recruit lived up to expectations with an impressive debut, catching six passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
Smith’s first touchdown came on a 16-yard back shoulder fade route in the front of the endzone from quarterback Will Howard. His second score, a 9-yard reception, highlighted his crisp route running as he left the defender flat-footed. But the play of the day was a stunning 45-yard one-handed grab that set up a Quinshon Judkins touchdown.
Head coach Ryan Day praised the young receiver, saying, “Jeremiah’s got the skills and composure to be a game-changer for us.”
Smith’s debut not only marked a strong start but hinted at a bright future for the Buckeyes’ offense.
