Alabama A&M Wide Receiver Duke Miller Off to Explosive Start in 2024

HUNTSVILLE, AL – It’s no longer up for debate: Alabama A&M wide receiver Duke Miller has positioned himself as one of the top receivers in the SWAC. The Jackson State transfer made waves in Week 1 despite Alabama A&M’s brutal 73-3 loss to SEC powerhouse Auburn, hauling in 6 catches for 92 yards. Going toe-to-toe with an SEC defense was a tall order, but Miller still managed to stand out in the lopsided contest.

Fast forward to Week 2, and Miller’s dominance took center stage against D2 opponent Kentucky State. Alabama A&M cruised to a 49-7 victory, and Miller had a field day, racking up 8 catches for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns. With two vastly different opponents under his belt, the Mississippi native has already collected 14 catches for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns on the season. His ability to perform against both SEC-level competition and lower-division teams is a testament to his versatility.

The connection between Miller and QB Cornelious Brown IV seems to be getting stronger with each passing game. Brown, who completed 19 of 26 passes for 278 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception, looked comfortable in Week 2, spreading the ball around but making sure to feed his top target. Miller’s route-running, paired with Brown’s arm, is a dangerous combination that could wreak havoc in the SWAC.

But as we all know, it’s rough in the SWAC. Consistency against conference competition will be key. It’s still early in the season, but if the chemistry between Miller and Brown continues to develop, Miller could be on the verge of a breakout year.
